Offered with 1166 to 1671 mm width max, the new Series 5 DF/DS/DV is directed decisively towards maximum productivity and efficiency in the tightest of spaces. With new, more powerful and cost-effective 4- or 5-speed modular transmissions, 4 wheelbase lengths from 2044 to 2216 mm and powerful hydraulic systems with countless variants, the new models offer greater scope for configuration, presenting themselves once again as the benchmark in terms of safety, comfort and productivity.

Engine

COMPACT, EFFICIENT AND DEVELOPED SPECIFICALLY FOR FARMING.

The new 3- and 4-cylinder FARMotion Stage V engines on the models in the 5DF/DS/DV series are even more powerful and fuel-efficient than ever. Setting these engines apart is a formidable package of decidedly innovative technical content, like the electronically managed Common Rail injection (up to 2000 bar) with 7-hole injectors, an electronically controlled viscostatic fan and the PowerCore combustion air intake filter. It all minimises consumption and boosts productivity. The extraordinary compactness of the suite of exhaust aftertreatment solutions used, with an externally, cooled and EGR circuit with electronic recirculated flow control, DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst), passive DPF and SCR, has made it possible to maintain the same sloping, tapered cowl as the previous Stage III/B generation power unit, to ensure a generous steering angle and excellent forward visibility from the driver seat. In addition to the new technology implemented for compliance with Stage V emissions regulations, all engines now develop greater torque and power, as high as 116 HP on the top-of-the-range model.

Transmission

MODULAR, EXTREMELY ROBUST AND ULTRA-EFFICIENT.

The modular transmissions on the new Series 5DF/DS/DV result from SDF’s extensive, specific experience. It has always been at the cutting edge in development of transmissions for specialised tractors. All options available are distinguished by modularity and efficiency. They range from the high-efficiency fully synchronised 12+12-speed mechanical version to the 45+45 with three Powershift speeds, electro-hydraulic modular reverse shuttle with 5 different responsiveness levels, Stop&Go and ComfortClutch, which lets you change gear using only a button on the gear lever instead of needing to operate the pedal. The Stop&Go lets you set off using the brake pedals alone, without requiring clutch operation. That makes both coupling the equipment and hill starts easier and safer. It can be driven at 40 km/h with economy engine revs on the 5-speed version, whereas a supercreeper gear is available as standard, permitting operation in the lowest gear and with the engine at top speed at just 200 metres per hour.

PTO

TOTAL VERSATILITY AND EFFICIENCY.

The PTO also offers an extensive choice of configuration solutions: the 540 rpm and 540 ECO modes come as standard, with a handy selector by the driver’s seat. It’s also possible to choose between the classic fixed PTO shafts and interchangeable splined male shafts, as well as practical mechanical coupling or automated electro-hydraulically modulated coupling, and also the remote operation controls, located on the rear mudguard. Finally, another potential option is to add the 1000 rpm mode, as well as ground speed PTO. There is also the possibility of an automatic control that activates/deactivates the PTO based on the position of the lift, and a 1,000 rpm front PTO. The highly ergonomic, rational control layout, together with the now famous DEUTZ-FAHR colour logic, makes controlling the PTO simpler, quicker and more precise even for less expert operators.

Hydraulic System

CONFIGURATION OPTIONS, POWER AND PRECISION.

Deutz-Fahr has given the new Series 5 DF/DS/DV a powerful system with a wide range of equipment options. The pumps dedicated to lifts and distributors achieve a maximum flow rate of 68 l/min, whereas a separate second hydraulic circuit as standard, dedicated to steering and ancillaries, employs an independent 20 or 40 l/min (depending on the machine’s equipment) pump, for extremely smooth manoeuvring even with the engine idling and lift and/or distributors in operation. As many as 3 hydraulic distributors are available at the rear, with flow regulation valve and free return, while as many as 5 duplicate couplers from the rear can be in belly position. The electronic rear lift that comes as standard has maximum lifting capacity of 3130 kg (2600 kg on DS and DV versions), implementable up to 3940 kg, and –again as standard – features mounted implement vibration damping. Hydraulic stabilisers and a powerful, 1500 kg front lift are available as options.

Brakes

UNIQUE, INNOVATIVE FEATURES FOR SUPERLATIVE SAFETY.

As an alternative to a high load capacity front swing axle, the new series 5DF/DS/DV family is also available with an exclusive adaptive hydropneumatic independent front suspension system, which ensures optimised damping action in relation to ground speed and steering angle to ensure unbeatable comfort and stability. As standard, the active front suspension control software also includes Anti-dive and Anti-roll functions, which significantly improve both the machine’s safety and productivity. Anti-dive counters sudden front suspension compression under braking to shorten stopping distances, while Anti-roll automatically adjusts damper stiffness when cornering, stiffening the suspension of the outer wheel to keep the vehicle correctly balanced, improving stability and grip and drastically reducing roll. To maximise traction, the DTC automatically transfers the torque developed at the front axle to the wheel that ensures the greatest grip. Standard equipment includes genuine all-wheel braking with wet discs fitted on all 4 wheels, electronically engaged front wheel drive and differential lock, while options also include SDD (Steering Double Displacement), which halves the number of steering wheel turns for quicker manoeuvring.

Cab

UNRIVALED COMFORT.

There are three 4-pillar cab versions, which share the same supreme level of ergonomics and comfort, maximised by the large windows, perfectly level floor and the steering wheel (both height- and tilt-adjustable) in combination with an instrument cluster that always follows its movements, so that it adapts perfectly to drivers of all sizes. All the main controls are arranged on the new right-hand console, which can have an optional cross lever to control two distributors simultaneously. The InfoCentre clearly displays tractor operating information; a smartphone holder can be fitted next to it, complete with two USB ports. The liftable roof increases the rear upwards visibility, while the large windscreen ensures an excellent view at the front. The Category 4 filtration system is also available, to effectively protect the driver when working with protective crop treatments. Powerful LED work lights and air suspension seat are also available for the new Series 5 DF/DS/DV.
